Drone Mechanical

The drone system integrates multiple sensors: camera, GPS, barometer, inertial measurement unit (IMU), communication systems, and control systems to enable autonomy.  The drone platform itself is an off the shelf component: Readytosky S500 Quadcopter Frame Stretch X FPV Drone Frame Kit, chosen for its lightweight design and reliability, enabling the team to focus primarily on the software development of the drone. We CNC routed out a carbon fiber roll cage for the Jetson Orin Nano. In the event of a crash, impact is transferred through the roll cage into the longitudinal axis of the drone.
